Project Manager – Mission Critical / Data Center Projects

A leading national general contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its growing team in the Des Moines market. This organization is known for delivering complex, high-profile commercial construction projects across multiple sectors.

Position Summary
The Project Manager will lead, direct, and coordinate all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This individual will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead overall project execution including planning, scheduling, and coordination of all activities
Develop and manage project budgets, cost controls, and financial reporting
Establish and maintain the master project schedule, ensuring timely delivery
Oversee subcontractor procurement, scope review, and contract administration
Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle
Manage and mentor project teams, including engineers and field staff
Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality control, and company procedures
Collaborate with preconstruction teams on project planning and development
Identify and mitigate project risks and drive problem-solving initiatives
Qualifications
5–10+ years of experience in commercial construction project management
Experience working for a large general contractor (preferred) on data center / mission critical projects
Proven ability to manage ground-up or large-scale projects
Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and contract management
Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
